BIO:
Brian Cardello
I found myself with a TV camera on my shoulder for the first time when I was in college. It happened almost by accident after walking into a local TV station to ask for an internship. "Sure, c'mon back on Monday". Well, before I could come back on Monday, one of the station's best shooters broke his foot on the ski slopes. So, he hobbled in on crutches and handed me the camera. "C'mon, I need you to carry this. I'm gonna need your help." Much to my surprise, I started shooting that day. I was thrilled from the first frame. Still am.
Since then, I've had the opportunity to shoot for all kinds of shows, projects, and segments for television. A lot of the work is local, right here in the San Francisco Bay Area. But jobs sometimes take me around the country, and even to a few far-reaching places. Whether shooting an entire show, or a segment, or just a piece of the puzzle, the work is always fascinating, challenging, and rewarding. Most of all, it's a pleasure to enjoy the teamwork involved with a small group of talented people working together to tell a great visual story.
More than being a Shooter, or Camera Op, or even a Director of Photography, I really do think of myself as a Visual Storyteller. The video camera is just the primary tool I use. I've also been an editor ever since those first days at the TV station. And so, I combine those shooting and editing skills with some writing and producing experience to produce concept-to-completion video projects for corporate communications, and occasionally for broadcast. That's the Cardello Productions thing.
As for my work-style, each day I aim to do my best on every shot while working to match my creativity, quality, and style with the specific needs of the client and the project. If I do my job right, you'll find me to be a pleasant team player that gets the job done very well without a lot of hassle or drama.
